If you’re looking to work with your hands, as well as your mind, while improving the oral health of others, dental assisting may be for you. Dental assistants are valuable members of a dental care team, assisting the dentist in the delivery of quality oral healthcare.
Our dental assistant training program provides hands-on education in the fundamental principles of the dental assistant field. Our program includes training in dental X-ray procedures, patient assessment, billing, dental records, instrument sterilization and other skills designed to make our graduates extremely well-qualified and ready to start work in a new dental assistant career.
We strive to ensure that you are receiving the current skills required in a real-world dentist office. Our instructors and staff will partner with you toward your future success in your classes and through our job placement resources. Upon completion of this program, you will be prepared to sit for the registered dental assistant certification exam and dental radiographer exam, where applicable.
WHICH DENTAL ASSISTING SKILLS WILL I LEARN?
- Review dental records and prepare patients for treatment, including taking X-rays
- Provide dentist with proper instruments and chairside materials
- Impressions, modeling, charting and polishing
- Fluoride treatments and whitening procedures
- Provide postoperative instructions and instruct patients on oral healthcare
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment, and place for easy access
- Instruct patients on dental hygiene and proper care of dental fixtures
- Apply sealant/anesthetic
